# Product Directory

### Overview

The Product Directory is your structured list of the products your company buys. It sits alongside your Product Catalog (the products you sell), so both sides of your business live in one place.

Your supply lists use the products in your Directory. Use Link from directory to add them to a list; new products you add in a supply list appear here automatically. See [How Products Work](https://scopematch.com/docs/how-products-work/).

Products in the directory use the same ScopeMatch categories and specifications as the catalog, and you can link them to stock in your [Digital Warehouse](https://scopematch.com/docs/digital-warehouse/).

#### Plans

Available on every plan. See [Tiers and Features](https://scopematch.com/docs/tiers-features/).

### When to Use It

Use the Product Directory when:

1. You want **one structured list** of everything your company buys.
2. You are **preparing supply lists** and want consistent product names and specifications.
3. You want to **link purchased items to stock** in your Digital Warehouse.

---

### Step-by-Step Guide

1. **Open the Product Directory** from the Company Profile section of the menu.
2. **Add a product.** Use the guided walkthrough (category, product types and specs, availability, then review), or the single form if you already know the category and specs.
3. **Add many at once.** Use **Bulk Upload** to import a CSV or Excel file, mapping columns to categories and specs, or **Import with AI** to upload a PDF or spreadsheet. See [AI Catalog Parsing](https://scopematch.com/docs/ai-catalog-parsing/).
4. **Clean up duplicates.** Select two products and merge them.
5. **Keep it current.** Edit or delete products as your purchasing changes.

---

### Best Practices & Tips

#### Do:

- Use the same categories and specifications your suppliers use.
- Merge duplicates as soon as you spot them.

#### Don't:

- Add products you sell here; those belong in your Product Catalog.
